We are sad to announce the passing of one of the founders of Greendell Farms, Evelyn Marie Green. She and her husband Byron Green started the INLA member company that is now Greendell Landscape Solutions. Her obituary reprinted below offers greater details. Evelyn Green, 91, of Mooresville, passed away on March 28, 2022. Evelyn was born on December 17th, 1930 at the family home in Mooresville, Indiana, to Earl and Marie Francis.
A graduate of Mooresville High School, Evelyn turned her passion for gardening into a lifelong career with her husband Byron Green. The founders of Greendell Farms whose legacy persists in Mooresville, which they operated until their “retirement” in 1992. An avid reader, Evelyn was also an early adapter of organic gardening and nutrition studies.
Evelyn is preceded in death by her husband Byron Green, her parents Earl and Marie Francis, and sister Karen Francis.
She is survived by her daughter Celesta Hofmann (Bruce), son Aaron Green (Laura), sister Kay Miller, grandchildren Lucas Hofmann, Andrea Hodges (Chadd), and Tamela Swearingen (Rob), as well as 6 great grandchildren.
Family and friends will gather to celebrate Evelyn’s life on Monday, April 4th from 10am-12pm at Carlisle Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, Mooresville, with services beginning at 12pm Monday in the funeral home. By family request the committal at the cemetery will be private.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks memorial donations to be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or the First Baptist Church of Mooresville.
